Controlled release of stored optical pulses in an atomic ensemble into two separate photonic channels

چکیده
We report an experiment in which optical pulses stored in an atomic system can be controllably released into two different photonic channels. By controllably turning on the retrieve control pulses at either 795 or 780 nm to read the stored optical pulses in a four-level double -type atomic medium, we can obtain the released probe pulse at 795 or 780 nm, respectively. These readout pulses can be further separated spatially and directed into different optical propagation channels through a grating. Such controlled release of stored optical pulses may extend the capabilities of the quantum information storage technique, and can have applications in multichannel all-optical switching, all-optical routing, quantum information processing, and image storage systems.

Controllably releasing long-lived quantum memory for photonic polarization qubit into multiple spatially-separate photonic channels
We report an experiment in which long-lived quantum memories for photonic polarization qubits (PPQs) are controllably released into any one of multiple spatially-separate channels. The PPQs are implemented with an arbitrarily-polarized coherent signal light pulses at the single-photon level and are stored in cold atoms by means of electromagnetic-induced-transparency scheme. Reading laser pulse...

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...

We experimentally demonstrate emission of two quantum-mechanically correlated light pulses with a time delay that is coherently controlled via temporal storage of photonic states in an ensemble of rubidium atoms. The experiment is based on Raman scattering, which produces correlated pairs of spin-flipped atoms and photons, followed by coherent conversion of the atomic states into a different ph...

We analyze a double Λ atomic configuration interacting with two signal beams and two control beams. Because of the quantum interference between the two Λ channels, the four fields are phase-matched in electromagnetically induced transparency. Our numerical simulation shows that this system is able to manipulate synchronous optical signals, such as generation of optical twin signals, data correc...

We demonstrate a coherent and dynamic beam splitter based on light storage in cold atoms. An input weak laser pulse is first stored in a cold atom ensemble via electromagnetically-induced transparency (EIT). A set of counter-propagating control fields, applied at a later time, retrieves the stored pulse into two output spatial modes. The high visibility interference between the two output pulse...
